Terms of service

Version 4. In force from 2 March 2026. These terms apply to every instruction accepted on or after that date.

What we are

BramleyCase is the trading name of BramleyCase Ltd, company number 16842731, registered in England. We provide paperwork, correspondence and document preparation services. We are not a firm of solicitors. We are not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and we are not authorised to carry out any activity reserved by Schedule 2 of the Legal Services Act 2007. That means we do not exercise rights of audience, we do not conduct litigation, and we do not carry out reserved instrument, probate or notarial activities. Where a matter needs one of those things we will tell you and stop.

How an instruction begins

Every matter starts with a free call of about fifteen minutes. Nothing is chargeable at that stage. If we can help, we send a written scope note setting out the work, the fixed fee and what is excluded. Work begins only when you confirm that note in writing and the fee is paid. If we do not receive confirmation within fourteen days the quoted fee lapses and may be requoted.

Fees

Fees are fixed for the scope described in the scope note and are payable in advance. Court fees, tribunal fees, expert reports, inspections and search fees are not included and are paid by you directly to the body concerned. We do not take a percentage of any sum you recover and we do not work on a no win no fee basis. If the matter changes so that additional work is needed we will quote separately before doing it.

What we need from you

You must give us accurate and complete information, including anything unhelpful to your position, and you must send documents promptly when we ask. You remain responsible for the decisions in your matter, for meeting any deadline set by a court or ombudsman, and for filing any claim in your own name. We draft; you decide and you sign.

Liability

We accept liability for loss caused by our own negligence or breach of these terms, limited in total to the amount of the fee paid for the matter concerned. We are not liable for the decision of any court, ombudsman or third party, for the conduct of the other side, or for loss arising from information you did not give us. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Complaints and governing law

A complaint should be sent in writing to lawconsult@bordermaintenance.co.uk. We acknowledge within three working days and reply in full within twenty working days. Because we are not a regulated legal services provider, the Legal Ombudsman does not have jurisdiction over us. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
