Version 4. In force from 2 March 2026. Read together with our terms of service.

This website is not legal advice

Everything published on this site, including the summaries of legislation on the home page, is general information about the law of England and Wales. It is not advice on your situation, it may be out of date by the time you read it, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a person qualified to give it. Reading this website does not create any professional relationship between you and us.

We are not solicitors

BramleyCase Ltd is not a firm of solicitors and is not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We hold no practising certificate and we carry out no activity reserved under the Legal Services Act 2007. We do not appear in court, we do not conduct litigation on your behalf, and any claim we help prepare is issued by you, in your own name, at your own risk.

No guarantee of outcome

We do not predict results and we do not promise that a letter will be answered, that a refund will be paid or that a claim will succeed. Outcomes depend on the evidence, on the other party and, ultimately, on a judge or an ombudsman. Any view we give on the strength of a matter is an opinion, expressed honestly, and nothing more than that.

Cancelling within fourteen days

Because we contract at a distance, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 give you fourteen days from the day the contract is made to cancel without giving a reason. Tell us by email and we will refund you. If you asked us in writing to start work inside that period, we may keep a proportionate amount for work already done, and if the work has been completed in full within the period the right to cancel is lost.

Refunds outside the cancellation period

If we have not started the work, you get all of it back. If we have read the papers but sent nothing, we keep the review element and refund the rest. If a letter has been sent, the fee for that stage has been earned. If we accepted an instruction we should have refused, for example because it turns out to be reserved work, we refund the whole fee including the part already carried out. Refunds go back to the card or account used and normally clear within ten working days.

Links to other sites

Where we link to legislation.gov.uk, gov.uk, an ombudsman scheme or the Information Commissioner’s Office, we do so because those pages are useful. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content.
